The ChainFor™ HPV Detection Real-Time PCR Kit is an in vitro real-time PCR-based assay for the qualitative detection of human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA of the following 15 (probably) high-risk HPV genotypes, i.e., 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68, 70 and 82. The assay can be used to detect the presence of the above mentioned HPV types in genomic DNA specimens.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a major cause of cervical cancer in women and the reason for oropharyngeal and anogenital cancer, and genital warts in men and women. HPV infects basal epithelial cells and mucosal cells in the anus, vagina, vulva, penis, and oropharynx. There are more than 200 HPV genotypes known. HPV genotypes are classified under high-risk (HR), medium-risk (MR), or low-risk (LR) groups according to their known risk of developing cancer. HPV infections with high-risk genotypes (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68 70 82 ), can cause cancer development.
